The 2017 Gartner’s Market Guide for Master Data Management External Service Providers lists Entity’s MDM offerings throughout the US and EMEA

KENT, UK – 1st August 2017Entity Group, the leading independent specialist in the provision of Information Management, Data Governance, and Master Data Management services and solutions to large and mid-sized enterprises across EMEA and the USA, is pleased to have been included in Gartner’s March 2017 Market Guide for MDM External Service Providers. The report, which encompasses some of the MDM suppliers globally, confirms that engaging an External Service Provider (ESP) with the appropriate skills is a proven way to ensure MDM success.

According to the report, “Even though the MDM ESP market is rapidly gaining popularity and momentum in the overall information infrastructure space, it is still in the adolescent phase of maturity (with a market penetration of less than 20% of the possible target audience). Gartner predicts that it will take around five to 10 years for the MDM ESP market to reach mainstream adoption.” Gartner also states that, “the majority of clients that plan and execute MDM programs have reported gaining significant traction and momentum by using ESP partners. This is particularly useful in environments that are constrained by bandwidth or organizational issues, or by a lack of the appropriate expertise.” Entity Group is an expert in assisting clients in this domain. With 92 global customers in 15 countries Entity has a wealth of expertise covering automotive, education, financial services, insurance, public sector, healthcare, hospitality, pharmaceutical, retail, transport and media.

As stated in the report, “Gartner has historically seen a much higher success rate, and lower incursion of various risks, in MDM programs that concentrate on the discipline aspects first, before pursuing any technology evaluation and selection (see Figure 1 and “The Seven Building Blocks of
MDM: A Framework for Success”)
. Gartner also states that, “the scope and complexity of MDM programs, coupled with the high level of cooperation needed between IT and the business, provide ample incentive for organizations to seek assistance from ESPs to devise a sound MDM strategy and (or) implementation plan for their MDM initiatives.”

This view is echoed by Entity Group in their recent acclaimed book, Crossing the Data Delta – bridging the gap between the data an organization has and the information the business needs. In our experience, all too often organisations do not have a holistic data strategy in place and are, therefore, in no position to take advantage of opportunities afforded by treating data as a strategic asset. The truth is that information management strategies very often get ignored because they are difficult to articulate and seem even more difficult to execute. However, we believe they are achievable with the right assistance.

In addition to the obvious pressing market demand for advisory services within the information management space, Entity is also noticing a growing trend of interest for more innovative pricing structures with regards to data management implementations, especially from mid-sized organisations. “At Entity we’ve seen a definite upswing in interest from mid-range companies, particularly with the potential introduction of our subscription-based Data-Management-as-a-Service ,” states James Wilkinson, CEO at Entity Group. “Our ability to tailor solutions to deliver on key business needs, and deliver them as a holistic service, seems to be garnering a deal of interest and looks set to boost the MDM market even further.”
